Crafts !

Ninth and tenth grade students enrolled in "Craft Materials and Processes" have begun the term gaining dexterity and perhaps revisiting crafts done while in summer camp.

Currently they are working out ideas using embroidery stitches. As a group , we will be designing and creating a quilt. Each student will work on their individual panel which will later be joined with other panels.

10 x 10 x 10

Ninth and tenth graders who took Digital Photography during Trimester 1 currently have pieces on exhibit in a few spots in JBHA's main building.

For the assignment , 10 x 10 x 10 , students selected a space no larger than 10' x 10' x 10' and documented the space with (you guessed it ... ) 10 photos. The photos were edited and printed out in a variety of sizes before collaging them onto a back board.

Come check them out - they look great !

Stained Glass / Tissue Paper Collage

New Trimester

Middle School students in Two Dimensional Design were quick out of the starting gate and have already begun their first assignment  : Tissue Paper Collage

Designs are being worked intuitively with minimal planning.

Students are using layers of tissue paper , origami paper and construction paper . Mod Podge is used as glue and varnish for the pieces. They look great already!

Looking Forward

A major mural is currently being worked on by students from several JBHA Art classes .

Initiated by a student involved with the Human Rights Club , the theme of the mural centers around thankfulness.

Pieces are being done in a kite format and will be installed in one of the school's three story stair wells.

I'll keep you posted on the project's progress!
